Welcome

The Virginia Dare Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), welcomes you to learn more about our chapter. Named after the first English child born in America, our chapter is located in the Outer Banks. Rich in history, this coastal community was the location of the first English settlement and the birthplace of aviation in 1903.

We are always eager to share information with those who are interested in the DAR, and we continually look for new opportunities to promote DAR objectives within our local community. Our members are committed to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. We enjoy our volunteer activities and are proud to make a difference in the lives of our community, state, and country.

Each member is a direct descendant of a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War.

We cheered the U.S. Air Force Cycling Team as they headed from the Wright Memorial on their four-day journey to Washington, DC. We also participated in the 9/11 Memorial Walk and the Duck Town Fourth of July parade.

The chapter commemorates the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge and highlights our Patriots. We celebrated Constitution Week with the Outer Banks Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary including a Bells Across America ceremony. We also set up Constitution Week displays in local libraries.

We support the Crossnore Communities for Children and presented DAR Good Citizens Awards to three local graduating seniors.
